🌆 Bangkok: The City of Angels (Krung Thep)

Bangkok is a city of dizzying contrasts and a non-stop feast for the senses. Gleaming temples sit beside soaring skyscrapers, while the city's famous chaos somehow blends perfectly with an innate sense of order and spirituality.

  • The Grand Palace & Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha): This is the most important landmark in the city. The Grand Palace is a sprawling complex of stunning, glittering buildings, and within its walls lies Wat Phra Kaew, which houses Thailand's most sacred treasure: the Emerald Buddha. Note the strict dress code—no shorts or sleeveless tops.
  • Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha): Located near the Grand Palace, this temple is famous for its massive, 46-meter-long gold-plated Reclining Buddha. It's also the birthplace of traditional Thai massage.
  • Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn): A breathtaking temple on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River, easily reached by a river ferry. Its tall spire is intricately decorated with colorful Chinese porcelain and is especially beautiful at sunset.
  • Chao Phraya River & Khlongs: The river is the city's lifeline. A boat trip is essential for seeing the city from a different perspective. For a more local experience, take a long-tail boat tour through the side canals (khlongs) to see traditional stilted houses.
  • Chinatown (Yaowarat): As night falls, this area transforms into a world-famous street food paradise. It's a must-visit for foodies, offering every dish imaginable from fresh seafood to unique desserts.
  • Markets: Experience everything from the massive weekend Chatuchak Market to the unique railway and floating markets like Maeklong Railway Market and Damnoen Saduak Floating Market.

 

⛰️ Kanchanaburi: History & Nature

West of Bangkok, Kanchanaburi Province offers a poignant journey into WWII history, set against a backdrop of lush jungles and dramatic limestone mountains.

  • The Bridge on the River Kwai & Death Railway: The famous bridge is a central part of the "Death Railway," built by Allied prisoners of war and Asian laborers under Japanese occupation during WWII. A visit to the JEATH War Museum and the Hellfire Pass memorial provides a sobering and important historical context.
  • Erawan National Park: A natural highlight of the region, this park is home to the stunning Erawan Falls, a seven-tiered waterfall with cascading turquoise pools that are perfect for swimming. A hike to the top offers a refreshing jungle escape.

 

🏛️ Ayutthaya: The Ancient Capital

Just 80 kilometers north of Bangkok, Ayutthaya was one of the world's largest and most cosmopolitan cities and the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom from 1350 until its destruction by the Burmese in 1767. Today, the Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, preserves the awe-inspiring ruins of its former glory.

  • Wat Mahathat: Famous for the iconic and serene Buddha head, completely entwined in the roots of a Bodhi tree. This is an unforgettable symbol of the city's past.
  • Wat Phra Si Sanphet: Once the most important and holy temple on the grounds of the Grand Palace, this site is the model for Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok. It's famous for its three towering stupas (chedis).
  • Wat Chaiwatthanaram: A majestic and large temple on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. Its central Khmer-style prang (tower) is stunning, especially near sunset, making it a favorite for photographers.
  • Wat Ratchaburana: Known for its impressive main prang, which you can climb inside to see ancient murals and for the large collection of ancient Buddha images found in underground crypts.
  • Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon: Features a massive reclining Buddha and a large, intact chedi that you can climb for a great view of the surrounding ruins. It has a more peaceful and uncrowded atmosphere.
  • Wat Lokayasutharam: Home to the largest reclining Buddha in Ayutthaya, measuring 42 meters long and 8 meters tall, lying in an open, serene setting.

 

🏛️ Chiang Mai: The Rose of the North

As the region's largest city and cultural heart, Chiang Mai is an unmissable destination. The city is defined by its historic Old City, a square surrounded by ancient moats and crumbling walls, which is home to over 300 ornate Buddhist temples.

  • Historic Temples in the Old City: The Old City is a square surrounded by ancient moats and walls. Here you can wander on foot and discover hundreds of temples.
  • Wat Phra Singh: Houses the revered Lion Buddha and is a stunning example of classic Lanna architecture.
  • Wat Chedi Luang: Dominated by a massive, partially ruined 14th-century chedi (stupa) that was once the tallest structure in the city.
  • Wat Chiang Man: The oldest temple in Chiang Mai, known for its peaceful courtyards and ancient stone elephant carvings.
  • Wat Phra That Doi Suthep: The most sacred temple in northern Thailand. Perched on a mountain overlooking the city, the climb up the 306-step naga-lined staircase is rewarded with glittering golden spires and breathtaking panoramic views.
  • Ethical Elephant Sanctuaries: A once-in-a-lifetime chance to observe rescued elephants in a responsible, no-riding environment.
  • Night Bazaars & Walking Streets: The city is a shopper's paradise. The Sunday Walking Street is a famous market where the main road closes to traffic, transforming into a massive hub of local artisans, street food, and live music.

Itinerary in details:

Day 1: Arrival – Bangkok, Sawadee “Hello” Thailand

Warmly welcome at Bangkok International Airport, meet & greet service by our guide and transfer from the airport to hotel by private air-conditioned vehicle with English speaking guide. Check in at the hotel. Rest of the day is free to discover the “City of Angels” at your own pace.

Day 2: Highlight of Bangkok (Meal: Breakfast)

After breakfast at the hotel, you will embark on a sightseeing tour of Bangkok's most famous temples. Your first stop will be at Royal Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha, two of the most famous tourist attractions in Bangkok. The Grand Palace is adjacent to Wat Phra Kaew, and together they form a common compound. The Grand Palace features European-inspired designs, except for the roofs, which maintain a distinctly Thai style.

Next, you will visit Wat Po, which is the oldest and largest temple in Bangkok. This temple is famous for its Reclining Buddha (Phra Buddhasaiyas), the largest single Buddha image in Thailand, and is also the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. After this visit, you will have free time for lunch on your own.

You will then visit Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of the Dawn. This iconic landmark is one of the most well-known temples in Bangkok and offers a stunning view of the city.

Enjoy a walk through the flower market before the last visit at the Golden Mountain.

After this visit, you will return to your hotel for some free time to relax and explore the city at your leisure. Overnight in Bangkok.

Day 3: Train Market & Floating Market – Kanchanaburi (Meal: Breakfast)

Early in the morning, after having breakfast, we pay a visit to Meaklong Railway Market – a local market has grown up along the rail tracks. When a train pulls in or out of the station, the sellers quickly clear their stalls, and set them up again when the train has passed.

We continue our way to Damnoen Saduak Floating market, which is specialized in trading fruits, vegetables, etc… by small boat. In the old days, floating markets were formed because roads and means of road traffic have not developed. Due to the demand for buying and selling goods, people gather in the river by means such as boats. Nowadays, even though the road network has developed everywhere, floating market still exists and develops more and more.

Next you transfer to Kanchanaburi for a visit to the World War II memorial including the Cemetery.

In the afternoon, we will take a 30-minute train to experience and enjoy the beautiful view from the train along the river. This is one of Southeast Asia's historic railways, the remaining part of the "Death Railway". Transfer to the city for the night.

Day 5: Kanchanaburi – Erawan Waterfall – Ayuthaya (Meal: Breakfast)

Morning breakfast and depart for Erawan Waterfall – a beautiful seven-tiered waterfall. Located in Erawan National Park, walking up to see each of the picturesque falls, it is best to bring good walking shoes. Also, guests should remember to bring their swimming suit if they wish to swim in the fall’s natural pools.

In the afternoon, we continue the road to Ayutthaya. The ancient city of Ayutthaya is known as the 'Venice of the East’ because it is found along the Chao Phraya, the tributaries that surround the province of Ayutthaya River. Many monuments and remains of the period can be visited in this city founded in 1350 by King Uthong when the Thai had to migrate to the South under pressure from their neighbours to the North. Day 6: Ayutthaya – Bang Pa-In – Night train to Chiang Mai – No guide on board (Meal: Breakfast)

Morning after breakfast we will catch Kermit tuk tuk. These ‘cute’ tuk tuks are found in only two of Thailand’s provinces: Ayutthaya, and Trang. Along the ride, explore the temple highlights of the city from Wat Yai Chaimongkol, Wat Mahathat (with a Buddha face emerging from a tree), and strolling through a local market en route to Wat Phra Srisanphet. And after that we will visit the Bang Pa-In Summer Palace, built during the Ayutthaya era. The palace showcases an eclectic collection of buildings that blend European, Khmer, Thai and Chinese architectural styles. It’s the favorite summer palace of the King.

And transfer to the station to embark on the night train to Chiang Mai.

Day 7: Chiang Mai City Tour (Meal: Breakfast)

Upon arrival at Chiang Mai train station, meet your guide and transfer to local restaurant for breakfast. The morning will be mainly devoted to the walking tour of the old town with a stop at the old wall, the moat and a door of the old town. You will see the most beautiful temples of Chiang Mai: Wat Phra Singh temple, Wat Phan Tao temple, Wat Chedi Luang temple.

Then you will stroll along small streets lined with traditional houses, where you will take a rickshaw tour.

After that, you will take a walk through the central market of Warorot. In the afternoon you will visit the Doi Suthep hill.

Then visit craft villages: lacquer factories, silk weaving, manufacture of umbrellas, wood carvings and goldsmith work.

Then transfer back to the hotel. To brighten up your evening, browse the Night Market for yourself.

Day 8: Join Tour – Elephant Jungle Sanctuary (Meal: Breakfast)

Pick up from your hotel and transfer to Elephant Jungle Sanctuary:

A full-day Elephant Jungle Sanctuary package offers visitors the opportunity to get to know each of the remarkable elephants and gain a special understanding of their daily lives and behaviours. Experience life with the elephants in their natural home – A freely roamed environment which is both safe and sustainable. Located beside a Karen village in a densely forested mountainous region, the Sanctuary is surrounded by spectacular jungle scenery

08:30 Drive approximately 1.5 hours South of Chiang Mai through rolling hills, forest, and local farming areas.

10:30 Arrive at the Sanctuary. Meet your guide and walk for 10-15 minutes through the Jungle to the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary. Change into traditional Karen clothing. Enjoy an introductory lesson about elephant anatomy, history, and behavior.

11:00 Meet the elephants. Feed, interact, and play with the elephants in a natural environment as you learn about their behavior and history. Take photos with the elephants.

12:00 Enjoy a lunch of traditional Thai food and fresh fruit.

13:00 Learn how to make herbal medicine balls, feed the Elephants and then walk with the elephants to the river. Bathe and brush the elephants.

14:00 Join the elephants for a therapeutic mud spa. Swim in the river and take photos with the elephants. 15:00 Change clothes and say goodbye to the elephants

15:30 Leave the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary and drive approximately 1.5 hours to Chiang Mai.

17:00-17:30 arrive hotel in Chiang Mai
