Overnight in Siem Reap.

We start very early in the morning so we can capture the iconic picture of the pre-dawn facing Angkor Wat temple. Sunrise at Angkor Wat can be a busy venue especially during the months of December, January, February, and March.

After sunrise, we will explore the vast and rich of Angkor Wat temple, taking pictures at different angles, playing with light and shadows, and capturing the most beautiful devatas carved in sandstone.

Next destination will be the Ta Prohm Temple, famous for its giant trees where the most impressive scenes of the Tomb Raider movie were filmed. We will continue by veering you away from the crowd to a remote temple in the jungle. We will also visit places out of the beaten path where you will capture unique pictures.

Next, at the Golden Hour, will be the impressive Bayon temple with its 54 towers and 216 faces overlooking the defunct city of Angkor Thom. The final stop will be at one of gate of Angkor Thom to capture sunset over the moat.

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Drive to the rural outskirt 35km from Angkor area to visit the smallest, but magnificent, Banteay Srei built in the 10th Century and dedicated to Shiva. The temple was the birthplace of Khmer classical style architecture, and the bas-relief work is the best example of Khmer classical art remaining. The pink sandstone structure bears a series of striking and beautiful sculptures, lintels, pediments, and friezes. Khmers say the temple must have been carved by women for the details are too fine for the hands of a man.

We will visit the Landmine Museum where Mr. Aki Ra, a child soldier in the Khmer Rouge, has dedicated his life to helping those in need. Having spent most of his childhood fighting for the Khmer Rouge, Mr. Aki Ra was trained by the United Nations to detonate land mines; His fantastic work earned him a nomination for CNN Hero of the Year in 2010. They will stop at a local village to visit the families that are producing palm sugar.

On the way back stop at Pradark Village, where you will see the villagers making palm sugar, handicraft for selling to tourist. It’s a nice chance for you to see the local people living at the countryside with their struggling for daily life.

Not to be missed is Banteay Samre: Its rose-colored sandstone walls are decorated with carvings and bas-reliefs, which are among the most accomplished Angkor has to offer.

Depart for the Tonlé Sap. You will enjoy a boat ride on the Tonle Sap Lake. This is the largest permanent fresh-water lake in Southeast Asia and flows into Tonle Sap River, joining the Mekong in Phnom Penh. You will see a fishermen's "floating village" with floating schools, floating police station, etc. It is same as a big village floating on the lake, and the "village" move from place-to-place following water levels and current. You will go to local pagoda, where you should change to clothes you can get wet in as here you will experience the ceremony “SrouchTeok”, which roughly translates into “Water blessing”. A monk will chant in ancient Pali as he splashes water over you, washing away your sins and bad luck so you can start fresh and by being a good person can increase your good luck.

Overnight in Siem Reap.

After a leisurely breakfast, journey through the Cambodian countryside to the colonial city of Battambang (Cambodia’s second largest city.) Despite being (not too long ago) a stronghold of the erstwhile Khmer Rouge, the city still boasts a beautiful countryside and some striking French colonial architecture. The former rice bowl of Cambodia, Battambang today still holds a thriving agriculture industry with large orange and jute plantations.

Drive to the Bamboo Railway Station. The Bamboo Train has been set up by the villagers to facilitate the transportation of goods and people. The train is very basic – one platform on 4 wheels activated by a small motor. Sitting on the platform we travel the 8km to the next station through beautiful landscape and rice paddies.

Departure to Phnom Sampeu Mountain to catch the bats! As darkness falls, we will begin to see thousands of nocturnal bats taking flight from the surrounding caves in a massive formation of dark, black clouds. Be sure to photograph this amazing and staggering sight!

Overnight in Battambang.

After breakfast, we will have full day tours to discover Battambang. Our first stop at local village to let you see how rice noodles are made. Then, at our next stop, we watch cigarettes being rolled. After that, we stop to see how to make rice paper for spring rolls. We take a road through the countryside and stop briefly to show you the Cambodian village lifestyle. We continue our tour with demonstrations of the making of Cambodian cheese, and bamboo sticky rice.

Keep traveling to Wat Samrong Knong, one of the oldest Buddhist pagodas in Battambang featuring Khmer classical art. It is also a historical place used as a prison under the Khmer Rouge Regime 1970-1975. Pay your respect at a memorial shrine festooned with grisly bas-reliefs of Khmer Rouge atrocities.

Depart Battambang for the overland transfer to Osoam (duration 3-4 hours). Osoam, a small rural community at the heart of the Cardamom Mountains in southwest Cambodia, located between a crocodile sanctuary and Phnom Samkos Wildlife Sanctuary, is fast developing as an eco-tourism site, attracting nature enthusiasts from around the world.

In an area with few job opportunities, people in Osoam used to earn their living through illegal logging, hunting, and clearing land for sale. But in recent years it has evolved into a growing community based on eco-tourism, allowing many people to earn a living through legal and sustainable means.

We stop at Veal Veng district is a thriving tourist destination known for its waterfalls and mountain ranges, offering visitors both natural beauty and a glimpse into Cambodia’s complex history.

Arrive at Osoam, we check in guesthouse/homestay.

If time permit, we walk around the local villages to learn about the fruits, herb, vegetable, and local life.

Overnight in Osoam.

Overnight in Osoam.

After breakfast, Bid farewell Osoam and drive to Koh Kong (duration 3-4 hours).

Arrive in Koh Kong, we continue to Peam Krasop. A walking path through the Mangrove Forest before taking a boat trip. Fantastic, untouched (mostly) ancient mangrove forest in brackish water. A suspension bridge leading to a 15 Meter tower. Lots of small wildlife. The mangrove forests of Koh Kong provide homes to hundreds of species of wildlife, including the famous Irrawaddy dolphins which you can usually see early in the morning.

Overnight in Koh Kong.

Start your Koh Kong adventure by exploring the peaceful riverside area. A leisurely boat ride along the Tatai River offers breathtaking views of the dense mangrove forests and traditional fishing villages. Overnight in Koh Rong.

Enjoy a full day of sun or swimming in the warm coastal waters. This is the moment when the dream of going on vacation to an exotic land becomes reality.

Overnight in Koh Rong.

We farewell island and take express boat to Kampot. Kampot – the southern coast of Cambodia, edging the border with Vietnam, once served as a glamorous seaside resort for the French in the early 1900s. Evocative of the French Riviera towns along the Mediterranean coast; the towns of Kep, Sihanoukville and Kampot have tree-lined, wide roads fringing the ocean, large statues, luxury villas, casinos and even a palace overlooking the Gulf of Thailand.

Here you will learn more about their efforts to preserve and develop the mangrove which acts as an important project against coastal erosion and serves as a natural habitat for an entire ecosystem. We hop on a small boat to go and make our contribution to the global effort by planting some mangrove tree.

Late afternoon is a city tour strolling along the riverfront, which is lined with frangipani trees that blend harmoniously with the well preserved French colonial buildings.
