This is an expansive and deeply cultural cross-border itinerary that highlights the fascinating contrasts of Southeast Asia. You will transition from the rapid energy, French-colonial architecture, and dramatic limestone karsts of Vietnam to the golden pagodas, ancient archaeological plains, and serene water worlds of Myanmar.

Flight: International flight on your own arrangement or on requests.

 

Today meet upon arrival at Saigon International Airport. In Saigon, first obtain your Vietnam visa on arrival. Clear Immigration and Customs and proceed into the arrival area. You will be met by our guide and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure.

Overnight in Saigon.

8.00 am: Our tour guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel and then start drive to Cu Chi which located 60km from Saigon city, Cu Chi is now considered a heroic district for its role in the anti-American war in Vietnam. It is legendary for the original tunnels system of over 220km and is a popular spot for both Vietnamese and foreign visitors. The peacefully rural rice paddy scenery contains ducks and water buffalos swimming in the rivers alongside the road. Visitors will find it hard to imagine the destruction, damage, and defoliation all over the area, caused by bombing and mines When Cu Chi was” A Free Target Zone “. The remnants visitors will see show Cu Chi still has her evidence to prove the fierce battleground that took place there and visitors will see the remnants.

We pass the now-demolished wartime American Embassy before we visit the Reunification Palace which was the former residence of the President of South Vietnam until end of April 1975, and some French colonial structures including the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Old Sai Gon Post Office. After seeing the Jade Emperor Pagoda and the War Remnant Museum, we continue our trip on to the bustling Ben Thanh Market where anything and everything is for sale.

Overnight in Saigon.

The whole day is for the visiting to the boisterous Mekong Delta. A trip from Ho Chi Minh City to Ben Tre will take us about 2.5 – 3 hours. For a cruise on a branch of the Mekong River, Chet Say river, get on the boat at Phong Nam wharf. During the trip, you will learn about local life and the people’s traditional handicrafts such as coconut activated charcoal making, coconut processing for production, as well as mat weaving.

A nearby peaceful village can be explored as you choose to get in on “xe loi" (a special motorized tricycle) or hiring a bike to move around the village through the luxuriant trees and magnificent paddy fields. We will have lunch at a local house where tasty Vietnamese cuisine is served.

Transfer Saigon airport for our flight to the Danang. Upon arrival at airport, we meet our driver and transfer to Hoi An for check in.

Overnight in Hoi An.

Today, our guide will take you by bicycle through the tiny village lanes to the river where you can learn about the daily life of the local people. Keep cycling through the corn fields, rice fields, water coconut forest, lakes of shrimp and crab farm. On the way, we will visit houses for worshipping ancestors and houses of handicraftsmen such as: blacksmiths, carpenters, and masons where you can learn many unusual things about life in Hoi An. Ride back to your hotel.

Overnight at Hotel in Hoi An.

Your morning is yours to enjoy at a relaxed pace. Whether you choose to sleep in, savor a final breakfast, or take a last stroll through the streets of Saigon, the time is yours to treasure.

At the designated hour, your private car and driver will arrive at your hotel to transfer you to the airport for your flight to Hanoi, the thousand-year-old capital of Vietnam.

Arrival in Hanoi – Welcome to the City of Lakes

Hanoi is a green city with its stylish French villas; it still exudes that old French charm and style. Its tree-lined boulevards, romantic lakes and French architecture allow us to step back in time to a quieter, more relaxed Vietnam. We visit the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum and Ho’s simple, yet impressive house on stilts, set in beautiful gardens. Then we view the One Pillar Pagoda and the ancient Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university. In the afternoon we visit the Ethnological Museum, one of the most interesting in Hanoi and then take an hour cyclo tour to discover the heart of Hanoi – the bustling Old Quarter – where the narrow streets buzz and bustle with the life of city. It is a shopper’s delight, with beautiful silks, linen, and Vietnamese artifacts. To finish off the day, we attend the performance of the famous Vietnamese water puppetry.

Overnight in Hanoi.

This morning, we leave Hanoi by road for Ha Long Bay by shuttle bus from the cruise, enjoying the timeless scenery of rice fields, water buffalo and daily life of the countryside. On arrival in Ha Long, we board a beautifully appointed wooden junk. A seafood lunch will be served as we cruise among the hundreds of islets in the Bay. Our cruise takes us to Sung Sot cave to witness a splendid sunset.

Overnight on boat.

Early morning coffee and tea will be served on the sundeck followed by a Tai Chi class. We continue exploring magnificent Ha Long Bay. Change to a small motor or rowing boat to see the floating village. When we return to the junk, a sumptuous meal, combining Vietnamese and Western cuisine will be served. On leaving the cruise, we depart back to Hanoi by shuttle bus from the cruise.

Spend the rest of your time seeking for some cool souvenirs for your loved ones before heading to the airport for your upcoming flight to Yangon.

When you arrive, you will be picked up and transferred to the hotel for your check-in.

Overnight in Yangon.

In the morning, we will visit Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda, famous for an enormous reclining Buddha image.

Keep going to the city downtown to visit age – old colonial buildings. Our guide will explain in detail the history and the purpose of each structure.

Feel free to walk around the local market before heading to Yangon Railway Station to take a train, which is a great chance to get an insight into the local life.

After that, head to Shwedagon Pagoda. It is a wonderful golden pagoda located on the top of Singuttara Hill. People said that the pagoda was built 2500 years ago and it kept the hair relics of the Buddha. Nowadays, the location is the most magnificent religious place in the world and the pride of Myanmar.

Overnight in Yangon.

Depart early to take a flight to Bagan - the land of more than 3,000 ancient temples. First, we will visit the traditional market of Nyaung U which exists for centuries. After that is the gilded pagoda of Shwezigon and the magnificent temple of Ananda as we venture to the farther parts of the plain. Here in Bagan, you will surely have a comprehensive look at Burmese Buddhist traditions.

After that, visit a local lacquerware workshop to have a deeper understanding of the technique involving lacquer painting.

Make your trip to Bagan more interesting by visiting Nan Paya Pagoda – one of the four Bagan’s monuments which was built of sandstone, as well as other magnificent places of interest nearby. We will also pay a visit to MinkabaGubyaukyi temple and the special architecture and sculpture of Myazedi Pagoda, Manuha Temple as they will draw your curiosity with a heartfelt impression. Of course, Shwesandaw Pagoda, one of the best landmarks in Bagan which is famous for the magical sunset, is also on our list.

Today we take a flight from Bagan to Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar. After that, visit Sagaing Hill to know more about the monastic life, explore Buddha Cave, U Min Thonze Pagoda and Soon OoPonya Shin Pagoda, along with contemplating the wonderful scenes of Mandalay.

Keep up with the trip by heading to Amarapura, also called the “City of Immorality” by car. We will visit Mahagandaryone Monastery, one of the city’s main attractions with more than 3,000 monks who live and study here. Then, walk over U Bein Bridge – the longest teak bridge in the world.

Overnight staying in Mandalay.

Today we will spend the whole day visiting Mandalay and its religious sites. Observe the monks during worship time and savor a nice meal of vegetarian food in the monasteries.

Proceed to Mandalay Pier where we take a boat trip to Mingun to explore its highlights of the huge unfinished Pahtodawgyi pagoda and the 2nd largest bell on Earth.

Travel to Mandalay Royal Palace, which is shielded by the astounding canals and stop over Shwenandaw Monastery to admire the stunning wood carvings. We move next to Kuthodaw Pagoda, where the World’s largest book is displayed. It includes 729 Marble Stone Slabs of Buddhist Scriptures and each one has a small shrine. We will stop at the Mandalay Hill at the end of today’s tour for a beautiful sunset. You will surely have an unforgettable moment to relax and see the whole city.

Overnight staying in Mandalay.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for flight to Heho. Arrive at Heho Airport, meet our local guide and drive to Nyaung Shwe and transfer to hotel by boat to Inle Lake. Being located at the 900 meters above sea level, Inle Lake is the second largest natural lake in Myanmar with hazy blue mountains as backdrop. Afternoon, visit Indein Village, located at the western side of the lake. Passing Nyaung Ohak Monastery and follow a stair path lined up with many hundreds o wooden columns, you finally will reach the impressive Shwe Indein Pagoda Complex. From the hillside you have great view over the lake area. On the way back to the boat, walk through a romantic bamboo forest at the riverside, where you may observe local people having a bath. Afternoon continue sightseeing on the lake.

Overnight in NyaungShwe or on the lake.

After breakfast, start Inle lake sightseeing by boat. This sightseeing offers an excellent opportunity to observe Myanmar rural life up-close.

The rest of afternoon will be filled with visits to:

  • PHAUNG-DAW-OO PAGODA, the most important symbol of religion of Shan State
  • NGA-PHE-CHAUNG MONASTERY, attractive wooden monastery
  • FLOATING VILLAGES (INNPAW KHONE, POUK PAR, YWA MA, KHAR TAW)
  • A visit to these sights provides deep insight into how the people on the lake make their livings. So you can enjoy Unique One Leg rowers, their traditional fishing style, Lotus and silk weaving, boat making and cheroot making.

 

Transfer to the Heho Airport for flight to Yangon. Upon arrival at Yangon airport, we meet our guide and transfer to hotel.
