Tour Overview:

Isolated from mainstream tourist destinations for decades, Myanmar boasts a mesmerized beauty that is unlike—and unrivaled—anywhere in Southeast Asia. Here, time moves differently. Golden pagodas have glowed for over 2,500 years. Thousands of ancient temples rise from a misty plain, untouched by modern development. Entire villages float on tranquil lakes, and a gravity-defying golden boulder teeters on the edge of a cliff, defying all logic. Our Best of Myanmar features a great experience with visits to the holy temples of Yangon, the ancient temples of Bagan, the sacred stupas of Mandalay, the exotic floating villages of Inle Lake, and the miraculous Golden Rock. This is not merely a vacation. It is an encounter with the Golden Land.

Your journey begins in Yangon, where the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda dominates the skyline. This 99-meter golden stupa, covered in tons of genuine gold leaf and crowned with a 76-carat diamond, is the most sacred Buddhist site in Myanmar. According to legend, it enshrines eight hairs of the Buddha himself.

As the sun sets, the golden spire transforms from bright yellow to deep orange, glowing like a second sun against the purple horizon. Pilgrims from across the country circle the stupa clockwise, offering flowers, lighting incense, and praying at the eight planetary posts. Your guide will explain the significance of each day of the week—Myanmar has eight, with Wednesday split into morning and afternoon—and help you find your own planetary post for a personal blessing.

Botataung Pagoda: The Hollow Wonder

Unlike most solid pagodas, Botataung Pagoda is hollow, allowing visitors to walk through its interior alongside sacred relics of the Buddha's hair. The golden labyrinth inside is lined with glass cases displaying ancient artifacts, and the atmosphere is deeply peaceful.
