Welcome to Yangon, Yangon (formerly known as Rangoon) is the largest city in Myanmar (formerly Burma). A mix of British colonial architecture, modern high-rises and gilded Buddhist pagodas define its skyline.

Your starting point is Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, which is a relatively quiet and charming city with an impressive colonial and spiritual heritage. It’s a great starting point for a Myanmar holiday. You will start your day by visiting a morning market downtown – where you can find a variety of goods from fresh vegetables and fruits to fish and meats and other housewares.

You also can see many vendors selling breakfast treats including pancakes, steamed sticky rice with beans, and fried delights. On the way, you can encounter dozens of noodle stalls serving the locals before going to work and school. Make a stop to sample some of the treats as you walk along.

In the evening, you will be served foods from remote areas of Myanmar – a great combination of unique flavors and textures of the country.

Continue your amazing cuisine trip by discovering the bustling street foods of Yangon. Fill up your new day with a curry meal, a staple of the Myanmar diet before making a visit to a tea shop – the local favorite. Enjoy a cup of tea while chatting with the friendly locals.

Your afternoon journey will be the most important site in the capital city. Wrap your day with a visit to Shwedagon Pagoda. Located in Dagon Township in Yangon, this pagoda is the most notable building in Yangon and becomes one of the main tourist destinations in Myanmar. The Shwedagon Pagoda is a great cone-shaped Buddhist monument 99 meters high. Visiting this fascinating monument, witnessing local pilgrims while enjoying the beautiful colors of the sunset.

Overnight in Yangon.

Fly to Bagan, explore villages, visit Ananda Temple, Shwesandaw temple, and Shwezigon temple, and take a boat to visit Kyauk Gu U Min temple.

Fly to Bagan – the World Heritage site. The thousands of temples that are spread across the plains of Bagan combine to form one of the richest archaeological sites in Asia and provide views quite unlike anywhere else on earth. Spend the day exploring the villages and the most famous temples of the region including Ananda Temple - one of the four main temples remaining in Bagan. Ananda temple is considered to be one of the most surviving masterpieces of Mon architecture. Another two famous temples you should not miss are Shwesandaw and Shwezigon temples.

Continue the afternoon trip with a boat that leads you to Kyauk Gu U Min temple - a cave temple with notable sandstone carvings and a colossal Buddha image, located on the bank of the Ayeyarwaddy river. Rather than a destination off the beaten track in Bagan, the cave temple is filled with excellent sandstone figures, gigantic Buddha statues, and fine square frescoes depicting Jakata scenes.

Overnight stay in Bagan.

Visit a morning market, travel to a house for a cooking course, enjoy food, transfer to the outskirts of Bagan, observe the production of toddy juice, take a horse cart to Bagan, and watch the sunset.

Turn back to your cuisine tour this morning with a visit to a vibrant morning market. Here vendors gather to sell everything from fresh vegetables and fruits to fish and meats as well as a variety of dipping sauces and pastes popular in Burmese cooking. Afterward, travel to a house in a nearby neighborhood for a real challenge in a cooking course. With ingredients from local farms, you will prepare a traditional lunch to the delight of your friendly host. After finishing your food, enjoy it at midday.

Make your way to the outskirts of Bagan in the afternoon to observe the production of toddy juice into items such as alcohol, sugar, and molasses. Then, head back to the land of temples with a leisurely horse cart ride to enjoy the sunset of the region.

Fly to Mandalay, stop at a tea shop, travel to the top of Mandalay Hill, visit Shwenandaw Kyaung and Kuthodaw Pagoda, transfer south of the city, visit Mahamuni Pagoda, and watch the sunset on U Bein Bridge.

Today, take a short flight to Mandalay, the second largest city in Burma - the very name evokes the splendors of the Burma of old. Make a stop at a tea shop for breakfast before proceeding to the top of Mandalay Hill, which rises 240 meters above the city, for great views of the surrounding countryside, Irrawaddy River, and city center.

Explore the city with a visit to Shwenandaw Kyaung and Kuthodaw Pagoda which comprises a gilded pagoda, hundreds of shrines housing inscribed marble slabs, and several pavilions. The pagoda is also called “the world’s largest book”, named after the 729 marble slabs inscribed with Buddhist teachings.

After a filling fresh curry at lunch, continue your journey to the south of the city, here you can learn more about traditional handicrafts taken by the locals. Make your way to Mahamuni Pagoda - one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Burma.

The temple houses the Mahamuni Buddha image, the most highly revered Buddha image in the country. Finish your full day of exploration with a beautiful sunset on the world’s largest bridge - U Bein Bridge. Enjoy dinner at a popular local barbeque.

Overnight stay in Mandalay.

Take a local trishaw to explore food, stop at tea shops, visit the morning market, sample treats, transfer to Sagaing, visit famous pagodas, and transfer to the top of Sagaing Hill for views.

Today, set off your journey on a local trishaw and explore your favorite food in Mandalay. The best places to discover Mandalay’s cuisine are tea shops- busy meeting places throughout the day and an integral part of Burmese life. Visit the morning market in central Mandalay where you can encounter the bustling atmosphere of the market with vendors buying and selling their fresh produce. All create an animated picture of the rustic life of the locals. Take your time to sample lots of treats along the way.

Your afternoon trip stops at Sagaing. Visit some of the famous pagodas of the region before transferring to the top of Sagaing Hill for breathtaking views. Covered with 600 white-painted pagodas and monasteries, Sagaing Hill is widely regarded as the religious center of Myanmar.  It is home to 3,000 monks and 100 meditation centers.

Overnight stay in Mandalay.

Transfer to Nyaung Shwe, enjoy a meal of Shan, take a boat for a cruise on Inle Lake, pass through floating gardens, and villages, and see the leg-rowing fishermen.

The last stop in your culinary adventure is Inle Lake. Spend this morning exploring the town of Nyaung Shwe - the gateway to Inle Lake. Inle lake is the country's second-largest lake and features floating villages, gardens, various tribes nearby, and fishermen who row with their legs.

Enjoy a fabulous meal of Shan before boarding the boat for a cruise on the lake. While crossing the lake, you will pass through villages with stilted houses and floating gardens built up from strips of water hyacinth and mud and anchored to the bottom with bamboo poles. You will also see the leg-rowing fishermen who steer their boats with incredible balance.

Overnight stay on Inle Lake.

Travel around Inle Lake, visit Nga Hpe Chaung Monastery, Phaung Daw Oo Monasteries, and local villages.

This day is donated to travel around Inle Lake. You could encounter the bustling morning market - a place where people from the environs used to flock only once every five days to buy and sell their regional products. Nowadays, it becomes a daily market and is constantly crowded with people.

If you are lucky you may see Pa-Oh, Inthar, and Shan people in their traditional outfits. Make a visit to the main attractions including the Nga Hpe Chaung - an attractive wooden monastery built on stilts over the lake at the end of the 1850s. The monastery is also known for a collection of old Myanmar Buddha images from different areas that are worth seeing.

You also visit the famous Phaung Daw Oo Monasteries - the most highly revered monastery in the Inle Lake area. It houses five ancient images of the Buddha that are completely covered in gold leaf. Continue onto some local villages to see Innthar people using their traditional silk weaving techniques to create unique and high-quality products.

Overnight on Inle Lake.

Transfer to Indein, trek in a local village, visit an Inthar family house, transfer to the hotel, and watch the sunset over the lake.

The natural beauty of the lake’s shoreline will be discovered in your excursion today. Transfer to the Pa-Oh village of Indein. Indein is one of the small villages of Inle Lake located on the western bank of the lake. After trekking in a local village, make a visit to an Inthar family house where you can get a chance to prepare a meal and enjoy delicious Inthar dishes. Transfer to your hotel and spend time enjoying scenic views over the lake at sunset.
