This week-long tour goes far beyond a single night on Halong Bay. You'll spend a full day cruising its emerald waters, navigating through hidden caves and past thousands of limestone karsts that rise dramatically from the sea. It's a landscape that feels almost mythical.

From there, you'll travel to Hoi An, a beautifully preserved port town where Chinese temples and centuries-old wooden houses sit alongside modern Western cafes and restaurants. It's a place where history meets everyday life in the most charming way.

Your final destination is Siem Reap, the gateway to the mighty Angkor Empire. Here, you'll come face to face with the world-famous Angkor Wat, the enigmatic stone faces of Bayon Temple, and the jungle-clad ruins of Ta Prohm. Everywhere you turn, magnificent Khmer architecture and intricate carvings tell the story of a brilliant civilization that once ruled Southeast Asia.

Hanoi: The Cultural Heart

The journey usually begins in Hanoi, a fascinating city that feels like a living museum. It's not just a stopover; it's a destination in itself.

  • The Old Quarter: Get lost in the maze of "36 Streets," each historically named for the trade practiced there. It's perfect for walking, sightseeing, shopping, and enjoying street food.
  • Iconic Sights: Visit historic Hoan Kiem Lake, the solemn Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the ancient Temple of Literature, and the infamous Hoa Lo Prison (the "Hanoi Hilton").
  • Unique Experiences: Sip "cà phê trứng" (egg coffee) at a cafe on Train Street, where trains pass just inches away, and watch a traditional water puppet show.
  • Overnight Cruise: This is the quintessential experience. Kayak through hidden lagoons, visit spectacular caves like Sung Sot (Surprise Cave), and enjoy a sunset dinner on the water.
  • Sunrise Tai Chi: Many cruises offer early morning tai chi sessions on deck, which is a serene way to start the day.

 

Hoi An: A Timeless Charm

Hoi An is a beautifully preserved Ancient Town that feels like a living museum. Its unique atmosphere is best experienced by simply wandering.

  • Hoi An Ancient Town: A UNESCO World Heritage site, the old town is a pedestrian-friendly maze of narrow streets lined with centuries-old houses, vibrant silk shops, and art galleries. Its charm is amplified in the evening when hundreds of colourful silk lanterns illuminate the streets.
  • Food & Culture: Hoi An is a food lover's paradise. Don't miss the chance to take a cooking class or a street food tour to learn about and taste regional specialties like Cao Lau and white rose dumplings. For a cultural performance, the Teh Dar show is a spectacular acrobatic display highlighting Central Highland culture.

 

🏛️ Siem Reap: The Gateway to Angkor

Siem Reap is best known as the home of the Angkor Archaeological Park, a sprawling UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most important archaeological wonders in the world. The city itself has become a vibrant hub of hotels, restaurants, and markets catering to visitors from around the globe. Here are its top highlights:

  • Angkor Wat: Crown Jewel of Cambodia: The world’s largest religious monument and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marvel at its lotus-shaped towers, intricate bas-reliefs, and reflection pools. Sunrise at Angkor Wat is a bucket-list moment.
  • Angkor Thom means "the great city" in Khmer. The 12th-century royal Buddhist city is especially famed for its grand Bayon Temple but has several other sights of interest as well.
  • Succumb to the enigmatic smiles of the 216 giant faces of the Bayon, Angkor’s strangest temple.
  • Ta Prohm: A jungle-clad ruin entwined with massive tree roots (aka the Tomb Raider temple).

Itinerary in details:

Day 1: Arrival – Hanoi, Xin Chao “Hello” Vietnam

Today meet upon arrival at Hanoi International Airport. In Hanoi, first obtain your Vietnam visa on arrival. Clear Immigration and Customs and proceed into the arrival area. You will be met by our guide and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure.

 

Hanoi, Vietnam’s thousand-year-old capital, gracefully balances ancient tradition with rapid modernization. The city’s character is defined by a unique blend of native Southeast Asian heritage, lingering French colonial influences, and deep-rooted Chinese cultural elements. The energetic heart of Hanoi beats in the Old Quarter, a maze of bustling, narrow streets known as "the 36 streets." Historically, each street was dedicated to a specific trade – such as silk, silver, or herbs – and many still honor those traditions today, offering a vibrant, living glimpse into the city's historic commercial life.

Day 2: Highlight of Vietnam’s capital (Meal: Breakfast)

Hanoi is a green city with its stylish French villas; it still exudes that old French charm and style. Its tree-lined boulevards, romantic lakes and French architecture allow us to step back in time to a quieter, more relaxed Vietnam. We visit the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum and Ho’s simple, yet impressive house on stilts, set in beautiful gardens. Then we view the One Pillar Pagoda and the ancient Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university. In the afternoon we visit the Ethnological Museum, one of the most interesting in Hanoi and then take an hour cyclo tour to discover the heart of Hanoi – the bustling Old Quarter – where the narrow streets buzz and bustle with the life of city. It is a shopper’s delight, with beautiful silks, linen, and Vietnamese artifacts. To finish off the day, we attend the performance of the famous Vietnamese water puppetry.

Day 3: Hanoi – Halong Bay (Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

This morning, we leave Hanoi by road for Ha Long Bay by shuttle bus from the cruise, enjoying the timeless scenery of rice fields, water buffalo and daily life of the countryside. On arrival in Ha Long, we board a beautifully appointed wooden junk. A seafood lunch will be served as we cruise among the hundreds of islets in the Bay. Our cruise takes us to Sung Sot cave to witness a splendid sunset.

Day 4: Halong – Hanoi – Danang, Hoi An (Meal: Breakfast, Brunch)

Early morning coffee and tea will be served on the sundeck followed by a Tai Chi class. We continue exploring magnificent Ha Long Bay. Change to a small motor or rowing boat to see the floating village. When we return to the junk, a sumptuous meal, combining Vietnamese and Western cuisine will be served. On leaving the cruise, we depart back to Hanoi by shuttle bus from the cruise.

Transfer Hanoi airport for our flight to the Danang. Upon arrival at airport, we meet our driver and transfer to Hoi An for check in.

Day 5: Walking tours in Hoi An (Meal: Breakfast)

This morning, at 09:00 we will start our Hoi An Discovery tour. Hoi An seems to appeal to everyone. This charming town still retains a variety of heritage houses making a stroll around the streets a fabulous option. Guided tour of Hoi An site includes the Quan Cong Temple, the Quang Dong Pagoda, The Phuoc Kien Pagoda, the Japanese Covered Bridge, the Tran Family Chapel, Sa Huynh Museum, and Phung Hung House. Walk along the bank of the lively Thu Bon River, once prosperous and famous as a trading port.

Back to the hotel and free at your leisure.

Day 6: Hoi An – Danang – Siem Reap, Sour Sdey “Hello” CAMBODIA (Breakfast)

Free transfer to the airport for our onward flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival at Siem Reap Int’s Airport, process immigration procedure (visa on arrival is available or obtain in advance via www.evisa.gov.kh), Cambodia E-Arrival Card - https://arrival.gov.kh, clients can apply online or on arrival), then get your luggage and walk straight to the Exit Gate where our guide is waiting. After self-introduced, you’ll transfer to hotel for check in. Time to fresh-up and relax at hotel.

 

Recommend activities: Walking or use Tuk Tuk to Night market and enjoy local exotic food.

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 7: Angkor Highlight (Meal: Breakfast)

We start very early in the morning so we can capture the iconic picture of the pre-dawn facing Angkor Wat temple. Sunrise at Angkor Wat can be a busy venue especially during the months of December, January, February, and March.

 

After sunrise, we will explore the vast and rich of Angkor Wat temple, taking pictures at different angles, playing with light and shadows, and capturing the most beautiful devatas carved in sandstone.

 

Next destination will be the Ta Prohm "Tomb Raider" fame. Ta Prohm has been abandoned to the elements, a reminder that while empires rise and fall, the riotous power of nature marches on, oblivious to the dramas of human history. Left as it was ‘discovered’ by French explorer Henri Mouhout in 1860, the tentacle-like tree roots here are slowly strangling the surviving stones, man first conquering nature to create, nature later conquering man to destroy.

 

Next, will be the impressive Bayon temple with its 54 towers and 216 faces overlooking the defunct city of Angkor Thom. The final stop will be at one of gate of Angkor Thom to capture sunset over the moat.

 

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 8: Siem Reap – Departure (Meal: Breakfast)

We will enjoy a boat ride on the Tonle Sap Lake. This is the largest permanent fresh-water lake in Southeast Asia and flows into Tonle Sap River, joining the Mekong in Phnom Penh. We will see a fishermen's "floating village" with floating schools, floating police station, etc. It is same as a big village floating on the lake, and the "village" move from place-to-place following water levels and current. We go to local pagoda, where you should change to clothes, we can get wet in as here we will experience the ceremony “Srouch Teok”, which roughly translates into “Water blessing”. A monk will chant in ancient Pali as he splashes water over us, washing away our sins and bad luck so we can start fresh and by being a good person can increase our good luck.

 

Transfer to Siem Reap airport for departure to next destination. It’s time to say goodbye, we thank you for traveling with us and warmly welcome you to come again.
