Sabaidee! Welcome to Luang Prabang, a tranquil town with its gleaming temple roofs, fading colonial architecture and stunning mountain backdrop has been claimed by UNESCO to be “the best-preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia”. You are greeted by your driver at the airport for your transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day is at your own leisure.

Overnight in Luang Prabang.

A Luang Prabang walking tour is a great way to get an introduction to this UNESCO World Heritage site. A knowledgeable and friendly guide will take you for a stroll and share the rich history, culture, and architecture of the city with you along the way. You'll visit some of the top landmarks of Luang Prabang, from Wat Visoun temple to Wat Xieng Thong, the Royal Palace Museum and Mount Phousi. You'll also have a chance to explore traditional markets like Phosi Market and Talat Meuang which offer an insight into everyday Lao life. On a sightseeing walk, your guide will provide interesting facts about each location as well as some useful local tips for navigating around the city. You will understand how the old capital was born in the confluence of the Nam Khan River and the Mekong River, and how Lao people show their respect for local monks.

You can plan the rest of the afternoon yourself.

Today, you will go by boat to Pak Ou Caves, enjoy splendid natural scenery along the way and observing local fishermen and daily activities along the river. Pak Ou Caves, locally called Tam Ting, are filled with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues. The caves are noted for their miniature Buddha sculptures. Hundreds of wooden Buddhist figures take many different positions, including meditation, teaching, peace, rain and reclining (nirvana).

On the way back, you will also have opportunity to visit the local riverside villages of Ban Xanghai, a popular stop-over producing some special varieties of Laolao, the local rice wine. Second stop at Ban Xang Khong, known for its handmade paper and weaving craft.

On the bright day, you’ll have chance to enjoy the marvellous sunset while cruising down along the mighty Mekong.

During the boat trip you can enjoy lunch.

Pick up by driver and transfer to Luang Prabang train station for a journey down to Vang Vieng departing. You arrive in Vang Vieng, meet our driver and transfer to hotel.

Today's tour combines all the activities that Vang Vieng is famous for: kayaking on the Nam Song River surrounded by rugged karsts and beautiful rural scenery and exploring limestone caves.

Your tour guide will take to to the north of Vang Vieng, where you'll firstly visit Tham Xang (Elephant Cave). This cave owes its name to a remarkable limestone formation, and lies on the banks of the Nam Song River.

The nearby Tham Hoi Cave (Snail Cave) winds its way deep into the mountain. You'll float through the cave on inflatable tubes, exploring its long corridors and wonderful limestone formations. A pool of cool spring water lies at the mouth of Tham Nam (Water Cave), giving you a great opportunity for a swim.

Following a picnic lunch, trek to a Hmong village, passing through rice paddies and vegetable gardens. Return to Vang Vieng by kayaking down the Nam Song, taking you through idyllic scenes of rural life, with limestone mountains in the background.

Rest of the day, you are recommended a short stroll down to the riverbank in time for sunset, where there are a number of areas to sit and take in dramatic scenery. Be sure to bring a camera to catch some amazing snaps.

Pick up by driver and transfer to Vang Vieng train station for a journey down to Vientiane. You arrive in Vientiane, meet our driver and transfer to hotel.

After breakfast, departure to visit the colorful Thong Khan Kham market. There are many markets in Vientiane. There you will find all the foods that constitute the daily diet of Laotians but also all kinds of products (household appliances, jewelry, etc.). Dried red peppers are widely used in Laotian cuisine, particularly for macerating meat and fish. then visit the imposing Patuxay Monument. which is well known as a Triumphal Arch of Vientiane before continuing to the famous That Luang Stupa.

Continuation of the discovery of the city of Vientiane. We start with Wat Sisaket which is the oldest temple still standing in Vientiane. This amazing structure has remarkable frescoes and images of Buddha, then Haw Prakeo, the former royal temple of the Laos monarchy, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Statue.

In the afternoon: we will visit to Wat Si Muang, which is very famous for its supernatural power. Then go to Buddha Park which takes around 45 minutes. Along the way, stop to take photos of the Friendship Bridge which was built by the Australian government in 1994 and connects Laos and Thailand. Arrive at Buddha Park and enjoy a walk in the park. Also known as XiengKhuan, this park is filled with over 200 Buddhist and Hindu statues. The concrete sculptures are bizarre, yet intriguing, sitting majestically in the peaceful grounds. The peaceful setting of the park on the banks of the Mekong contrasts radically with the somewhat eccentric works sculpted in 1958 by a Laotian shaman-priest-yogi. Return to Vientiane city centre. The rest of the day is free to take a stroll in charming, relaxing colonial neighbourhoods or you can enjoy a cup of coffee in shaded terraces while contemplating scenes of river life as the sun sets on the Mekong.

Overnight in Vientiane.

Pick up by driver and transfer to Vientiane airport for flight to Pakse, South Laos. On arrival we'll drive further south to Champassak to commence our explorations of the remains of Khmer history in the region, visit the ruins of Wat Phou, understood to be the most important Hindu sanctuary of the Khmer Empire. The first temple on the site was built as early as the 5th century, though the current ruins are from the 11th to 13th centuries. Our thorough 2–3-hour visit of the ruins includes a steep climb to holy shrines of worship where many sacred Hindu, Buddhist and Animist elements can be found. The Wat Phou Museum exhibition hall on the lower levels invites visitors to study the rich heritage of Khmer artists and Buddhist sculptures. Afterward we'll continue to the small town of Champassak, where colonial influence can still be observed in the local architecture. In the afternoon we continue to Don Khong Island.

Later in the afternoon, you will arrive in the peaceful island of Don Khong, home to small villages and plantations, where you'll spend the night.

Overnight in Don Khone.

Early in the morning we’ll explore Si Pan Don.  Here the Mekong River is at its widest, stretching up to 12 km during the rainy season. As the waters recede many small islands emerge, giving the region its name.  From a distance you can hear the unmistakable roar of the Li Phi falls, which we will visit. We’ll also view the old locomotive and a railway and colonial bridge built by the French to avoid navigating the rapids and waterfalls in this section of the Mekong.

Overnight in Don Khone.

Upon leaving Khong Island we continue our journey towards to the Bolaven Plateau, located in the Annamite Mountain Range, which runs along Laos’ eastern border with Vietnam. The renowned coffee of Lao PDR is produced in this region. The climate of the plateau, with its cooler temperatures and abundant rainfall, make it the perfect place for coffee production. After viewing several cascading waterfalls -- including the famous Tad Lo and Tad Fan Waterfalls.

Overnight in Bolaven.

After breakfast transfers to Pakse airport to taking a flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia or taking an overland exit through Chongmek International checkpoint to Ubon Rathani, Thailand.
